Swamy wants govt to drop graft law amendment change

Press Trust of India New Delhi
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to drop the proposal to amend the anti-corruption law saying it was "retrograde" and would weaken the fight against graft.

In a statement, he said the proposed amendment for deleting parts of Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988 would weaken the legal fight in courts against corruption of public servants who act against public interest to benefit rich business persons, "cronies and other associates".

Hence the prime minister should firmly direct the BJP floor managers to see that the UPA Amendment Bill is not considered for adoption by Parliament, Swamy said.
