External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will visit Dhaka next month to take part in the fourth Bangladesh-India Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) meeting, a Bangladeshi official said today.

"She is expected to join the meeting in the later part of September but the exact date for the visit is yet to be fixed," a foreign office spokesman said.

The official said that Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla conveyed to Bangladesh's Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque that Swaraj would visit Bangladesh in September. Shringla called on Haque yesterday.

This would be Swaraj's second tour to Bangladesh as External Affairs Minister since 2014.

She visited Bangladesh from June 25 to June 27, 2014, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government was sworn-in.

Officials here had earlier said that the JCC meeting was set to review the implementation and progress of decisions that were taken during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to India in April.
