Swarm of bees attack MLA, others in Maoist affected area

At least 15 persons including MLA and several policemen were injured today as a swarm of bees attacked them at a public function in Maoist hit Dumaria area, probably after suspected miscreants stirred a beehive near the spot, police said.

The incident occurred when the BJP MLA Menka Sardar was about to inaugurate construction of a school at Bada Hasthi village in Ghatsila sub-division of East Singhbhum district.

The MLA applying her consciousness covered her face with and lay down on the ground. She was given cover by Officer-in-charge of Dumaria police station Vinod Kumar Paswan, who was also stung by the insects.
 

Paswan said three of the injured fainted after being stung by the swarm of bees...Were taken to a hospital in Baripada, Odisha, where they were admitted.

"The possibility of a mischief cannot be ruled out as the inauguration of the school boundary wall was deferred twice in the past," Paswan said.
