Swati Singh approaches EC, claims threat to her life

Swati Singh, BJP candidate from Lucknow's Sarojini Nagar Assembly seat, today approached Election Commission claiming threat to her life from SP candidate Anurag Yadav and his supporters.

In a memorandum to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer T Venkatesh and poll observer, Singh claimed that she has a threat to her life following the incidents of assault on BJP workers in Sarojini Nagar area.

Swati, who is also head of BJP UP women wing, also expressed concerns about free and fair polls in her assembly constituency due to "SP goons".

Swati Singh is the wife of former state BJP vice president Daya Shankar Singh, who was expelled following his derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati.
 

Anurag Yadav is the cousin of SP national president and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the younger brother of Badaun MP Dharmendra Yadav.
