Sweeper commits suicide at SSP office

A man employed at the SSP office allegedly committed suicide today by hanging himself from a ceiling fan here.

The 46-year-old victim identified as Virendra, was a permanent sweeper at the SSP office, SP crime M P Verma said.

Virendra was found hanging himself from a ceiling fan at the women assistance centre at the SSP office this morning by other employees. Subsequently, they informed higher authority about the incident.

The body was then sent for postmortem.

Virendra's son Jackie told police that there was nothing unusual in Virendra's behaviour when he had left for the duty, according to the police.
 

No suicide note has been recovered, police said, adding they were speaking to the victim's family to ascertain any other possible causes for the death.
