Swine flu claims 2 more lives; toll reaches 417 in Gujarat

Swine flu claimed two more lives in Gujarat today, taking the toll to 417 since January this year, said a release issued by the state health department.

"Two people died due to the H1N1 Swine flu today. One death each has been reported from Rajkot and Jamnagar districts," the release said.

Gujarat has recorded 417 swine flu fatalities since January this year, it said.

Besides these fatalities, 25 new cases of swine flu were detected today, the release said, adding that 6,442 positive cases have been reported till date.

The Gujarat state government claimed that 5,827 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals, while 198 patients are being treated at various hospitals, it said.
 

Meanwhile, the Gujarat High Court today disposed off a public interest litigation seeking proper steps to curb swine flu after litigant Devarshi Patel expressed satisfaction over the government's actions.
