In a symbolic protest, activists related to tourism industry today flew paper planes on the banks of Yamuna river here in a reminder to Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his promise to construct an airport in the city.

"Modi in his speech at the Vijay Shankhnad rally in November, 2013 had promised an international airport and indirectly criticised the SP government for the delay," activist Rajiv Tiwari said.

"It is more of a symbolic protest, a polite reminder to the Prime Minister to keep his promise," another activist Anand Rai said.

"If there are direct international flights, it would be affordable and convenient for tourists to reach Agra," he said.
