T'gana govt makes important change to offences dealing with

The Telangana government today recognised offences mentioned under Sections 506 and 507 of Indian Penal Code as ones that can be taken up without the permission of a court.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao signed on the concerned file today, a release from his office said tonight.

Section 506 relates to punishment for criminal intimidation, while Section 507 concerns criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication.

The release added that it is the state government's discretion whether to take up cases under the said sections with or without the permission of court.
