Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati has "responded positively" to Telangana government's request that the Krishna River Management Board does not go ahead with the final notification on different aspects of the Board, said a release from office of Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya.

Telangana Irrigation Minster T Harish Rao today met Dattatreya, who represents Secunderabad in the Lok Sabha, and sought his intervention to protect the interests of Telangana, it said.

"(Harish Rao) informed that on account of Krishna Water Management Board (KWMB)'s draft notification there would be injustice to Telangana and if final notification is released then the state would be subjected to irreparable loss. He submitted a memorandum and requested to take up the matter with the Centre," it said.

Dattatreya, Minister of Employment and Labour, got in touch with Bharati over telephone and requested her to intervene in the matter to "withhold the draft notification and stop the final notification" and also to convene a meeting of the Chief Ministers of Telangana (K Chandrasekhar Rao) and Andhra Pradesh (N Chandrababu Naidu) along with the Board officials, it added.

"Uma Bharathi ji responded positively," the release added.

The Board has been set up following the bifurcation undivided Andhra Pradesh.
