Former Union minister T R Baalu of DMK and his colleague, sitting MP T K S Elangovan were among the 301 candidates who entered the April 24 Lok Sabha poll fray today, on the penultimate day of filing nomination papers.
While Baalu filed nomination papers for the Tanjavur seat, Elangoan is contesting from the South Chennai constituency, according to Tamil Nadu Electoral Authorities.
Baalu, shifted from Sriperumbudur constituency to Tanjavur and Elangoan, who currently represent North Chennai is trying luck from South Chennai.

The total number of nominations filed so far for 39 constituencies rose to 758, an official release said here.
While several independents including social activist Ramaswamy popularly known as "Traffic Ramaswamy" (South Chennai), transgender Bharathi Kannama (Madurai constituency) DMDK Chief Vijaykant's brother-in-law L K Sudheesh (Salem) were among those who filed their nominations.
