TAFE launches new range of tractors

City-based tractor manufacturer Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE) has launched new range of vehicles in the 40HP-60HP for enhanced productivity and efficiency, a top company official said today.

The tractors under the SMART series of Massey Ferguson brand along with a premium compact utility tractor offer enhanced productivity, utility with an emphasis on ergonomics providing superior operator comfort, TAFE Ltd, Chairman and CEO Mallika Srinivasan told reporters.

"The premium compact utility tractors is the first of its kind in India in the 28HP category offering versatile operation capabilities, she said.

"With the SMART Series we will be redefining customer experience with respect to productivity, efficiency and ergonomics by setting up new standards in the industry," she said.
 

With the launch of new premium compact utility tractor, I believe we are creating a new segment, given the needs of farmers and their changing expectations with regard to versatility and ease of use, she added.

She said the company plans to sell about 1.50 lakh tractors during the current financial year as against 1.40 lakh units sold last year.

Noting that the tractor market pegged to grow around seven to eight per cent this year, she expressed hope the growth of TAFE would be faster than the industry.

TAFE is one of the leading exporters of tractors with revenues of Rs 93 billion.

The company manufactures a range of tractors in the sub 100 hp segment in both air-cooled and water-cooled platforms and markets them under the Massey Ferguson, TAFE and Eicher brand. It has about 1,000 retail outlets across the country.
