The designer has also collaborated with high-end luxury TV makers Vu TV to create a crystal studded LED 3D television set that was also unveiled today.

Sixty high fashion clothing pieces by Tahiliani - a mix of lehngas, sherwanis, shararas, saris etc- each revealing Indian craftsmanship with European draping and fit - would remain on display inside the glass 'Jewel Box' for the next three days, the duration of the show.

"Bridal is about the bride. It shouldn't be about trends. Women are still making polarized choices when it comes to couture, but clearly they must be true to who they really are," said Tahiliani about his collection.

Maneqquins draped in Tahiliani's collection sit inside a 3D glass 'Jewel Box' 14 feet in height, almost the height of a double-storey building. The box has been designed by installation artist Sumant Jayakrishnan.

"Centrepiece of my collection is a lehenga that combines Mughal Jaal technique - made of several textures and fabrics on which Mughal florals are embossed and then encrusted with crystals. It took over 4000 man hours to put together the outfit that redefines the India modern," said Tahiliani.

The designer embellishes crystals on traditional Indian embroidery techniques.

Meanwhile, the 55 inch 3D 'Vu-Tarun Tahiliani Couture TV' with an inbuilt personal computer sports stylish latticework patterns on crystal created by calligraphy and geometry. MORE PTI
