Tainted deputy collector for land acquisition Dnyaneshwar Bhat has finally been suspended from his service after the Maharashtra state government cleared his file on Monday.

The district collector has passed an order on Tuesday to suspend the tainted deputy collector with immediate effect.

Deputy Collector Dnyaneshwar Bhat was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau's (ACB) Yavatmal unit over a month ago in his office while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a complainant for a favour.

Though he was arrested in his office, he was released from custody after he obtained anticipatory bail from a local court.

The tainted officer had rejoined duty, shocking the public.
