The hearing in the alleged multi-crore Taj corridor scam today started in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court.

The hearing will continue tomorrow.

A division bench comprising Justices Umanath Singh and Dr Satish Chandra heard a PIL challenging the 2007 order of the then UP Governor, T V Rajeswar, by which he had refused to accord sanction to prosecute former Chief Minister Mayawati and her cabinet colleague Naseemuddin Siddiqui.

Following this order, the special CBI court on June 5, 2007 had dropped the proceedings in the case against both the BSP leaders.

The petitioner's counsel C B Pandey argued that Rajeswar's order is bad in the eyes of law as the procedure adopted for the same was not permissible.
