BJP president Amit Shah today appointed Tajmen Imna Along, the Nagaland minister of higher and technical education, as the party state president, a statement from the party said.

The BJP is a partner of the ruling coalition in Nagaland along with the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA).

Along, patron of the RSS-affiliated Janjati Shiksha Samiti, will replace Visasolie Lhoungu as the state president of the party.

The state education minister came into the spotlight in March this year when he delivered his speech in Hindi in the budget session of the state assembly.

A first-time legislator, Along won the Alongtaki constituency in Mokokchung district on a BJP ticket.
