Sources said that Tak, the third husband of Shelina, told the Mumbai crime branch sleuths today that with the family's decision to shift to Dubai, he had been reduced to working as 'domestic help' and taking care of their three properties in India.

The issue -- Khan family's planned relocation without him -- led to a quarrel between him and Shelina on February 7 last year at family's farmhouse in Igatpuri, Maharashtra, which culminated in murders.

It would have been impossible for Pervez to obtain passport at the time as offences were registered against him in Jammu and Kashmir, his home state, police sources said.

Tak is accused of killing Shelina (51), Laila (30), her elder sister Azmina (32), twin siblings Zara and Imran (25) and cousin Reshma. The family had gone missing in February 2011 from Mumbai.

According to Tak, Shelina was married to Asif Sheikh (her second husband), but she told him that Asif was her brother. Tak always suspected that she and Asif had an affair, sources said.

Crime Branch chief Himanshu Roy had said yesterday that Pervez did not like that Sheikh was still maintaining contact with the family, and "the family's decision to relocate to Dubai also made him feel abandoned as he did not have a passport".
