Congress will face the consequences in the Lok Sabha elections if it failed to take pro-poor measures like raising the limit of LPG cylinders from 9 to 12, a party leader said today.

In a candid speech, A C Jose from Kerala said that the party lost Delhi because of corruption and price rise.

The party, which was in power in Delhi for 15 years, lost despite doing a lot of development, he said.

"An impression is going round that Congress, which has been pro-poor, has been slowly siding with the rich people.

"With just three months for the general elections, government will have to come out with steps to control prices," he said.

Besides, Jose said there was also the impression that corruption is rampant and that Congress was not taking it seriously. "We have to wage a war on corruption.
