The CBI has taken strong exception to its officers not taking seriously service-related litigations filed by their colleagues in CAT and various courts and warned them against seeking repeated adjournments.

Asking the officials to pull up their socks, CBI headquarters has asked them to avoid the practice of seeking adjournments in such matters and inform the head office on progress in such cases "promptly".

In a circular, Deputy Director (Personnel) has written to all the branches, "A number of cases have been filed by the CBI officers/officials in connection with service matters in various CAT/High courts. Similarly, the CBI has also filed writ petitions against the orders passed by the CAT/High Courts."

The Deputy Director said it has been noticed that the cases are not being attended to on priority basis and adjournments are sought from the court, time and again on one pretext or the other.

"It has also been noticed that in a certain case honourable court took serious views while granting the adjournment and imposed a cost. Such attitude of seeking adjournment time and again is not a healthy practice and has been viewed seriously," the circular said.
