: BJP today demanded that the Puducherry government initiate steps on a war footing to rein in private schools and prevent them from raising tuition fees.
Party's local unit General Secretary R V Swaminathan said in a release that there was a move by private schools to raise the fees from 2015-16 academic year. This would hit parents from middle income and poorer families and so government should lose no time to curb managements in fixing the fees.
He also took exception to private schools issuing transfer certificates to students when they reach classes IX and XI though they had been on the rolls from LKG,saying if they were suddenly given TCs they would not be able to get admission in other schools.
