Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today directed the state health department to take strict action against "insensitive" doctors, who ignore patients and consider themselves above the law.

"There are insensitive doctors, who ignore patients and consider them above law. Strict action should be taken against such doctors, who ignore people and did not discharge their duties" Yadav said.

"There are some doctors, who are defaming the noble profession and the state government will not tolerate them," he said.

Taking note of the directives, the Medical and Health department today issued chargesheet against Dr Arti Lal Chandani, posted in Government Medical College, Kanpur and a probe has been ordered against her by Divisional Commissioner, Kanpur.

Last month, she was suspended for not joining the Government Medical College (Banda) in December last year and challenging the order in High court giving wrong facts.
