Talathi, civic engineer held for accepting bribe separately

Anti-Corruption Bureau today trapped a woman junior revenue officer and a civic engineer for demanding and accepting bribe in separate cases.

Bhagyasheela Shinde (32), posted as Talathi in Mazgaon village in Sindudurgh district, had allegedly sought illegal gratification of Rs. 60,000 from complainant for issuing an extract of the 7/12 document after registering the sale deed of land purchased by him, said ASP, ACB (Thane division) Shrinivas Ghadge.

He said Shinde was held when she was allegedly accepting Rs 35,000 as first instalment from the complainant at Talathi office in Sawantwadi.

In another incident, senior engineer Suresh Gopal Vichve (57) posted with Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation was held when he was allegedly accepting Rs 5,000 in bribe from complainant on the premises of the civic body.
 

Vichve allegedly sought money from the complainant for passing a bill for construction work he had done.

Both of them were booked under sections 7,13(1)(d) and 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, Ghadge added.
