The 54-year-old singer, who has sung in films like "1942: A Love Story", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Pardes", said most of these contest winners cannot make a place for themselves in the industry.

"The participants just copy other singers and sing their songs to win a particular programme. But after they win competitions, most of them are not seen anywhere in the industry," he told reporters here.

"Reason behind this phenomenon is that in these business oriented talent shows, participants just follow other singers and do not create and show their own work.

"For some time it is okay, but it does not work if you continue to copy and do not create your own work and go ahead with that," he said.

"To succeed, one should have creativity. In the last two decades, we can see only a couple of singers who could survive but others vanished from the industry," Sanu added.

The singer, who was in the city to inaugurate 'Talent Studioz', said that he is now back in active singing after a lull of 4-5 years.
