The tripartite talks between Neyveli Lignite Corp management, workers' representatives and the Assistant Labour Commissioner have failed, AITUC General Secretary R Venkatesan said today.

"On November 9, the contract workers will picket the Corporate office of NLC demanding service regularisation as per Supreme Court orders", he told reporters.

The NLC management has sought more time for regularising the services of 10,622 contract workers, he added.

The talks were held in the office of Assistance Labour Commissioner (Central) in Puducherry to discuss and finalise the service regularisation of 10,622 contract employees of NLC.

NLC Chief General Manager (Human Resources) N Muthu later told PTI that the issue would be settled "amicably".

The company will hold further talks with the union members shortly, he added.
