Talwar, Judy emerge champions

Sumit Talwar from Chandigarh finally tasted success in the National 9 Ball Championship as he beat former No 2 Kamal Chawla of Railways here today.

Sumit began the day with an easy win over young boy Malkeet Singh of Railways 10 racks to 2 to storm into the final.

On the other side, Kamal Chawla denied Sundeep Gulati's hope for a double as he was looking to add to his 8 Ball title which the Delhi lad had won few days back.

In the final, though the fight appeared to be close till the interval but after that Sumit changed the gear to take a healthy lead.
 

In quick successions, he reached 10-5 where Chawla got only one rack before bowing down to Talwar who had won the 8-Ball title in New Delhi in 2010.

In the third place playoff, Malkeet beat Gulati 7-6 to finish as No 3.

In the women's section, Judy Walia bettered her 8-Ball silver medal by winning gold in 9-Ball.

She played against state-mate Indira Gowda and defeated her 7-4.

At a stage, Judy was leading 5-1 but later Indira managed to win 3 frames but later Judy won back to back 2 racks to seal the match.

Neena Praveen beat Suniti Damani 5-3 to secure third position.
