Sources said during consultations between news broadcasters and TAM, it was felt that there was a need to defer the viewership report till certain pending issues are resolved.

TAM had suspended its viewership report for two months in October due to digitisation of cable services in the four metros. It was felt that discrepancies could creep in its data during the switchover to digital format.

Cable digitisation was made mandatory since November 1 in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.

This deferred data was to be released on December 19, along with data for Week 50 from December 9 to 15.

Sources in the broadcasting industry said that news channels have sent their consent to TAM regarding the new date.
