A Tamil Nadu resident was arrested and gold bar valued at Rs 50 lakh recovered from her at the N S C B International airport here today.
An airport official said Uma Jayaraman, a resident of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, was intercepted on arrival from Bangkok by a Thai Airways flight by the security personnel.
After checking her jacket, a gold bar weighing 1.764 kg, valued at Rs 50 lakh, was recovered from her.
The incident came close on the heels of the arrest of one Abdul Karim of Chennai arriving from Malasiya by Air Malasiya flight the day before.
The official said Karim had been raided and 346 gm of gold bar valued at Es 9.83 lakh found concealed in his rectum the day before.
