Tanker overturns at Kolkata airport, two injured

Two persons were injured when an oil tanker overturned at NSCBI airport here today but flight operations were not affected, a senior Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said.

The incident happened around 6 am at bay number C1 inside the operational area near the cargo complex of the airport injuring the driver and helper of the tanker, NSCBI Airport Director, Atul Dikshit said.

AAI's fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and sprayed foam on the tanker as it caught fire after it overturned, he said.

The foam controlled the fire. The fuel was taken out from the tanker to make it dry and then it was removed from the spot, the airport director said.
 

We removed the tanker from the accident spot by 10 am. Flight operations were not affected as a result of the incident, the airport director said.

The accident spot was also cleaned.

We are investigating the matter to find out how the accident happened, he added.
