A tanker truck was swept away in the strong currents of the Kotawali river today in Mandawali area of this district, police said, adding that its occupants were rescued.

The tanker, coming from Haridwar in Uttrakahand, was washed away after its driver lost control over the vehicle while crossing the river, Mandawali SHO Rajeev Tyagi said.

All four occupants of the truck, including the driver, were rescued, he added.

A purported video of the incident went viral on social media in which "Bharat Petroleum" is seen written on the truck.

The traffic has been blocked on the bridge, the SHO said, adding that due to heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, the river is flowing dangerously from the city.
