Tabla player Pt Tanmoy Bose's new album 'Drum Dreamz' is a collage of acoustic beats from different continents.

The musician, who has done jugalbandis with personalities from Ustad Amjad Ali Khan to late Pandit Ravi Shankar, told PTI that the album was a labour of love for three years. The album is a fusion of representative sound beats from Africa, Latin America, to Europe and Asia.

"Me and Andreas from Germany had collaborated in conjuring the musical beats of different corners of the globe - from Encantador Copacabana (Delightful Copacubana) in Spanish, Dooset Daram Persia (Love You Persia) to our south Indian traditional drum instruments and Tabla," Tanmoy said.

"The instruments may look outwardly different, the places may be across the world but they merge after a crescendo. The soul of music remains the same for every listener. 'Drum Dreamz' shows you don't need verbal expressions to connect. Beats are more powerful," Tanmoy said.

It can be called a fusion with Indian instrumentals embracing different percussion trends across the globe.

"I am happy with all contemporaries from Pt Bickram Ghosh to Pt Debojyoti Bose and Pt Tejendra Narayan Majumder having come together to mark the album launch today. It will also be digitally available on the Internet."

Pointing out that the musical bouquet has fair share of tabla beats, Tanmoy said, "I owe my musical journey to my gurus including Pt Shankar Ghosh who had mentored me.

"I would later present this album to Sukanya Rajan Shankar and Anoushka Shankar since the Shankar's family occupy a large part of my musical career," Tanmoy said.
