Jammu and Kashmir MLA M Y Tarigami today condemned the deaths of two civilians in alleged firing by the Army and demanded an immediate end to "impunity to security forces in such cases".
Two civilians were killed when Army personnel fired at a stone-pelting mob in Shopian, prompting Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to order an inquiry into the incident.
The crowd hurled stones on a security force convoy passing through Ganovpora village in Shopian following which the Army men fired a few rounds to chase it away, police said, adding several people were injured in the firing.

Condemning the killing of the "unarmed youth" in the firing, Tarigami said, "I have no words to condemn these killings as mere condemnations every time a civilian is killed are not enough. Ordering a probe after every such killing is not a solution. People have lost faith in such probes," he said.
The CPI(M) leader said the "indifferent and callous attitude" of those in power in Delhi and in Srinagar is inflaming the already worsening situation in the state.
