In the wake of an accident involving the death of eight school children at Trasi near Kundapura, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase has convened a meeting of all school managements and vehicle drivers in the district on June 26, official sources said.
The meeting would discuss the government guidelines to ensure that all safety measures prescribed by the government and courts are strictly adhered to for vehicles transporting school children.
All school buses, as per the notification issued by the government, should have a distinct yellow colour with a horizontal strip in green colour in the middle all around the vehicle and the words 'School Bus' prominently displayed on all four sides, Borase said.

The WhatsApp number would be monitored throughout the day, he said.
The police department had taken school omni van accident very seriously and planned to conduct a drive to strictly implement the school bus regulations.
The SP also said that as less visibility has been a major reason for the rise in accidents on the national highways, a drive by police department with the coordination from NHAI, forest department, and MESCOM would be conducted.
Sign boards and reflectors in the curves would be installed along with other measures to reduce the number of accidents on highways.
