Tasmac shop near Saibaba temple ransacked

At least 20 persons were arrested today when they ranscaked a Tasmac liquor outle, near Saibaba Temple on Mettupalayam Road in the city, police said.

Some persons gathered near the outlet and pulled and thrown the liquor bottle on the road in the evening.

They also set fire some bottles, even as police rushed there and took them into custody.

The agitators were raising slogans demanding total prohibition in the State, they said.

Meanwhile, as part of intensifying the demand for the prohibition, a 53-year old man climbed atop a cell tower in Iduvampalayam in nearby Tirupur, police said.

Police and fire and rescue personnel are trying to bring him down, they said.
