Tata Sons sets up office in Singapore for Asean region

Tata Sons, the investment holding company of the Tata group, has set up an office in Singapore for the Asean region and named K V Rao as Resident Director.

The office will facilitate the growth of group companies in the region, with a focus on innovation, R&D and technology, Tata Sons said in a statement.

Rao, who will continue as Managing Director of Trust Energy Resources, a Tata Power subsidiary, has lived in Singapore for 18 years. He has served in the Singapore Civil Service as a director with International Enterprise Singapore, an agency that promotes business.

Rao is on the executive committee of the Singapore Indian Development Agency and the Singapore Fine Arts Society and is Vice Chairman of the South Asia Business Council of the Singapore Business Federation.
 

The Tata group has been in Singapore since the early 1970s, with the establishment of a precision engineering company and training centre.

More than 15 Tata companies are present in Singapore in areas such as manufacturing, engineering, communication and information technology, chemicals, energy and financial services.
