Arjuna Awardee Deepika, who had a disappointing outing in the recent London Olympic Games, was felicitated by Capt. Amitabh, Head Sports, JRD Tata Sports Complex in the presence of coach Purnima Mahato and other officials of Tata Steel, a media release said.

"It's always a great pleasure to receive encouragement and support from Tata Steel in all my endeavours. This encouragement will keep me going in my all future work in my sport," said the 18-year-old Commonwealth Games champion.

Deepika, manager (sports) in Tata Steel, went down to Olympic double gold medallist Bo Bae Ki and settled for the silver in the recurve women's individual event at Hibiya Park in Tokyo on Sunday.

Deepika, in her first appearance after the Olympics debacle, was in splendid form as she won the quarterfinals and semifinals before losing 4-6 after squandering a 2-0 lead in the final against the Korean Olympic champion.

"It is heartening to see Deepika put in the right kind of effort in her field and having the support of Tata Steel is critical to her grooming," said Purnima.
