Ace women archer Deepika Kumari has been adjudged the 'Best sportsperson of the year' by Tata Steel on occasion of the 175th birth anniversary of company founder J N Tata here today.
The country's top ranked archer was selected on the basis of her outstanding performance at the international arena.
The 19-year-old Deepika, also a Tata Steel employee, had won silver in four stages of last edition of the World Cup and also won gold in the Asian Championship at Chinese Taipei in November last.
Tata Steel Managing Director T V Narendran handed over the trophy to Tata Archery Academy coach Purnima Mahato in the absence of Deepika, who was attending a camp in Pune.
