Tata Steel today reported a 2.4 per cent increase in its hot metal production at 2.59 million tonnes (MT) in the April-June quarter of the current fiscal compared with the same period a year ago.
The steel major had recorded an output of 2.52 MT in July-September of 2013-14.
"Tata Steel registered hot metal and crude steel production of 2.59 MT (up 2.4 per cent y-o-y) and 2.35 MT (up 0.5 per cent y-o-y), respectively, for Q1 FY16," the company said in a statement.

The company said its pellet plant achieved its best-ever Q1 output at 1.43 MT.
The stock closed at Rs 280.55 on BSE, down 1.01 per cent.
