A jail official allegedly shot dead a manager of a liquor tavern outside bus stand here today, police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Indermohan Singh Bhatti said Assistant Jail Superintendent Bohad Singh allegedly shot dead tavern manager Rajeev Kumar using his service revolver.
He said Singh, who is posted at Sangrur jail, was on leave and having alcohol at the time of incident at the tavern.
The accused, who had been arrested, was allegedly under the influence of liquor when he committed the crime, the SSP said.
