TCS Foundation to restore IIM-A library with Rs 20 cr grant

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Foundation, the not-for-profit arm of the IT services major, has partnered IIM Ahmedabad to restore the Vikram Sarabhai Library using a Rs 20 crore grant.

Located at IIM-A's Louis Kahn Plaza, the library will be renovated into a future-ready knowledge hub for digital learning and collaboration, TCS said in a statement.

TCS Foundation, engaged in promoting and funding projects and programmes under corporate social responsibility, will support this project with funding of Rs 20 crore.

The restoration and upgradation of Vikram Sarabhai Library is expected to be completed by 2018, it said.

There will be an emphasis on digital collections, while print collections will retain their importance to the library.
 

Open and flexible spaces will be provided to create an environment of collaboration among students, academics and visitors.

"IIM-A plays a pivotal role in providing world-class management education for tomorrow's leaders and TCS Foundation is proud to help in making this landmark library future ready...," TCS Chief Financial Officer Rajesh Gopinathan said.

"The research environment at IIM-A will be significantly strengthened through this contribution, bringing our library on par with some of the best management schools worldwide," IIM-A Director Ashish Nanda said.
