Protesting against creation of a separate Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh, TDP in Rajya Sabha today demanded that an all party committee be set up to study the situation and look into the matter.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, C M Ramesh (TDP) said, "Entire Andhra Pradesh is on fire...For the past 35 days all the educational institutions are closed. People have taken to streets against the decision to carve out Telangana. Government has become insensitive and is ignoring the issue."

He regretted that there were huge protests in the state on the pattern of freedom struggle but the government had turned a deaf ear to the problems there.

Urging the members to visit the state to have a real feel of the ground situation, Ramesh said Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi had given a statement that a committee would be set up to look into the issue but recently the process for creation of Telangana has been hastened.

Reiterating that he was voicing concerns of the people of Andhra Pradesh, he demanded immediate action on the issue.

Ramesh, who has been protesting over the issue in Rajya Sabha along with party colleague Y S Chowdhary, ever since the monsoon session began on August 5, spoke in Telagu.

A number of members from various parties associated themselves with the demand for setting up an all party committee to look into the issue.
