Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) today thanked Tamil Nadu Chief minister Jayalalithaa for making a requisition specifically made for the personal intervention of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the release of 13th Finance Commission Grant of Rs 200 crore for completion of 18 Common Effluent Treatment Plant in Tirupur to achieve zero liquid discharge and make fully functional.
These CTPs have still not been fully upgraded to ensure Zero Liquid Discharge due to lack of financial assistance and most of them are operating between 30 to 70 per cent of installed capacity, TEA President, A Shaktivel, said in a statement today.
Shaktivel also thanked for the requisition made to expedite the release the pending subsidy under the TUF Scheme which would be helpful for the units to meet out their financial commitments and also have better production planning and control.

He expressed hope that the issues would be resolved soon, since chief minister has personally presented the memorandum to Modi and requested to address the concerned issues.
The textile industry in Tamil Nadu is contributing 11 per cent of total exports and one of the largest employment provider next to agriculture, while in the case of garment sector, more than 70 per cent of employment is provided mainly to women workers hailing from rural areas, he said.
The prosperous of textile industry in Tamil Nadu is highly linked with the growth of Tamil Nadu economy, Shaktivel added.
