A teacher of a government-run school has been accused of outraging the modesty of a woman in Odisha's Jajpur district, police said today.
The incident happened at Patapur village under the jurisdiction of Mangalpur police station yesterday night when the 40-year-old woman was alone at home, the police said.
The accused was inebriated at the time of the incident and he works as an assistant teacher in a government-run school, the officer said quoting the FIR.
A case has been registered against the accused under sections 354A (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jajpur, P K Mallha, said.
"Based on the woman's compliant, we rushed to the spot immediately and started an investigation. The accused teacher fled before a police team could reach his residence," the SDPO said.
