Teacher shot dead in Haryana

Armed assailants today shot dead a teacher, who was the husband of a village sarpanch, near Naraingarh city in Ambala district of Haryana, police said.

They said the name of the deceased was "Session Judge".

The 40-year-old worked at a private school in Badagaon village. The assailants fled after killing the teacher, they said.

Police took the body to Naraingarh civil hospital, but relatives took the body out of the hospital and sat on a protest on a highway demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.

The relatives alleged that the teacher was receiving threats for a few months and the matter was reported to police.

 

Police suspect old rivalry to be the reason behind the killing.

Rekha, wife of the deceased, is the sarpanch of Badagaon.

When the teacher was entering his school premises this morning, the assailants opened fired on him. He fell down but the assailants continued to fire. He died on the spot, police said.

A murder case has been registered and an investigation was underway. No arrest has been made, police said.
