Teachers and non-teaching staff members of 484 government-aided schools in Punjab will gherao the treasury here tomorrow demanding immediate release of the second installment of their arrears.

The second installment of the 30 per cent arrears alloted in the Fifth Pay Commission by the state government is yet to be released, president of the Government-Aided School Teachers & Other Employees Union (Punjab) Gurcharan Singh Chahal said.

All government employees have already received their second installment of arrears, he said.

"Government-aided schools have submitted their bills to the treasury way back in August, but still these bills have not been released," he said.

"We have been left with no option other than to gherao the treasury," he said. "The state government is saying that their is no shortage of funds, then why we are not being paid our dues?" he asked.
