A seven-member team of physically challenged people, including a duo who had fought in the Kargil war, today started on a trek to Kedarnath.
Flagging off the trek from his residence in Bijapur, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said he saluted the team's courage and added that their journey will send a message to the world that the road to Kedarnath is safe and secure.
The participants will cover a distance of 19 km from Sonprayag to Kedarnath base camp. They will reach the shrine on April 24, when the doors of the temple are to be thrown open to pilgrims.
