A 40-year-old software engineer was arrested today for allegedly sending threatening and vulgar messages to a woman doctor after his plans to marry her could not take off, police said.

Narayandas Ashok Kumar came to India from UK for marriage purpose and came across an alliance.

"They both exchanged their contact numbers and mail IDs and were close for some time," stated a release from Hyderabad Police.

However, Kumar could not marry the woman due to some differences between them.

"He became possessive and started harassing her and her family members. As he could not bear the separation, he bore a grudge against the woman and her family members and had been continuously abusing and harassing her," stated the release.

According to police, Kumar also created an email ID in the victim's name and started sending vulgur emails and messages to her relatives, her colleagues and friends, police said.

Following a complaint, a case was registered against Kumar and he was arrested after investigation, police added.
