Techie murder case: Mother of accused seeks CBI probe

Alleging tainted investigation by police into the June 24 murder of a woman IT employee at a railway station here, the mother of Ramkumar, prime accused in case, moved the Madras High Court today seeking transfer of the probe to an independent agency, preferably CBI.

Petitioner Pushpam claimed that her son was innocent and that police to guard the real accused, had foisted a case and arrested him.

She also alleged that the special police team that went to Karnataka in connection with the probe, had seized the sim card and laptop of 24-year-old Infosys techie S Swathi, which showed she may have been murdered due to a love affair.
 

Swathi had sold some secrets of her employer company as also that of the army, the petitioner alleged, without elaborating and sought transfer of the case to an independent agency, preferably CBI.

Swathi was murdered on the platform of Nungambakkam suburban railway stationonJune 24last.

Ramkumar was arrested from his residence in Meenakshipuram in Tirunelveli district onJuly 1 on the charge of murdering her.
