"Technology has changed our lives up to a level of infinity and nowadays with the help of technology we can do anything we like which we could not even think of a few years back", Kakodar said at the 10th Convocation of the National Institute of Technology, Silchar here yesterday.

"In short, it may be described as A-3 formula-- meaning any one, anywhere and anytime. Now a person can involve himself in any developmental work anywhere and at anytime", Kakodkar said.

The North East is very rich in natural resources and this should be utilised properly with due use of technology for developmental work, he said.

"With utilisation of these resources a new bridge can be created with the national industrial sector and in this case, engineers should take the initiative and prove their worth", he added.

India has already achieved a good place in the world economic scenario and "now is the actual time to involve the young in research and discovery so that the country can reach the pinnacle in the world of science and technology", he said.

IIT-Guwahati Director Dr Gautam Barua said that both IIT and NIT, Silchar should be linked with national technology related research and education.

During the convocation, 405 students were awarded with B.Tech degrees, 58 with M.Tech, seven with MSc and nine students were awarded doctorate degrees.
