A teenage son of a sub-inspector was badly thrashed allegedly by neighbouring family members of a head constable, who accused the minor of committing theft in their house in Priya Nagar Colony here, police said today.

"Three persons, including wife of a head constable have been arrested for allegedly badly assaulting son of sub inspector Santosh Kumar, posted in Kanpur," police said.

Shakuntala, wife of head constable Khajan Singh, along with two relatives, after getting a suggestion from an occultist that the boy had committed a theft in her house on December 24, thrashed him badly yesterday.

However, when the boy did not accept his hand in the theft, they allowed him to go home, warning him of dire consequences if he disclosed the incident to anyone.

"A case was registered at Highway police station by father of the boy and police took Shakuntala and two others into custody on the complaint," police said.

Family of Santosh Kumar and Head Constable stay in the same building.
