A 17-year-old deaf and dumb student of a school for special children was found dead inside his hostel room under mysterious circumstances today.

According to police, Thirupati Dudhbade was a class VIII student of government recognised school for deaf and dumb on Chandrapur-Ballarpur bypass road in the outskirts of the city.

Dudhbade was from Itoli village of the district.

Police said a team reached the spot after receiving information this morning and found the body hanging from the ceiling. The body was sent to Civil Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, family members of Dudhbade alleged foul play and claimed police did not follow procedures like conducting panchnama before removing the body.

Dadu Dudhbade, the uncle of the deceased, claimed that he saw some injury marks on the victim's head and hands.

District Superintendent of Police Rajiv Jain said the exact cause of death would be known only after getting the postmortem reports.
