Teenage girl attacked by leopard

A 17 year old village girl was badly injured when a leopard attacked her at a village in the district late this evening, police said.

The Kasara police station officer said the leopard prawled in Umbarwadi-Pethyacha Pada village of Kasara in Shahapur taluka and attacked the victim identified as Rani Apte.

"The girl managed to escape from the clutches of the big cat, which then disappeared into the woods," police said.

The wounded girl was rushed to the Kasara PHC, where she was given first aid and later rushed to Shahapur rural hospital.

The girl is out of danger and the forest officials have been alerted about the leopard, police said.
